Beef Recipes, Ground Beef

Quick and Easy Meat Sauce

Instead of using ground beef, try our Raw Chorizo or Raw Sweet Italian ground beef — the same seasonings you love in our sausages, but packed in 1lb packages and ready for stirfrys or sauces.  This recipe is our go-to for quick, easy and delicious.

1 onion, diced
2-3 tbsp olive oil
salt
1 lb Raw Sweet Italian Sausage
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 16oz can crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce

Saute onion in oil with a dash of salt (to bring out the flavor) until translucent.  Add the meat, saute until meat is brown and crumbly.  Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, dash of red wine (if you have it) and simmer 15-20 minutes until the flavors meld.

Serve over pasta with fresh ground pepper.

Variation
If you have time, or vegetables in your fridge, add peppers, eggplants, zucchini or broccoli after sauteing the onions.  If you’re adding a lot of vegetables, you may want to remove them from the pan so that you can brown the meat properly, then add them back in with the tomato sauce and simmer.
